A pie is a food consisting of a filling of meat, ham, chicken, tuna or other products, contained in a mode of mass produced bread dough. It is food that is produced in almost every country in the world.
The word empanada indicates the source of the food: in the Middle Ages in the West, was a dish made with coarse bread that is stuffed with meat or vegetables or both that pastors or passengers carried in order to ingest them in the field. It seems that this name derives from Latin, in-panis and in-Panat, although its origin is quite uncertain.
